RE:  GGPAA GENERAL ASSEMBLY on February 10, 2018 and FILLING UP of PARISH GGPAA MINISTRY

Dear Reverend Monsignori, Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We invite you to a General Assembly on February 10, 2018 (Saturday), 7.30AM – 12.00PM at Villonco Hall, Diocesan Center for Evangelization. During this gathering we shall cascade our goals for 2018, clarify our organizational structure and roles, address coordination concerns with other commissions & ministries; and be updated on the community-based drug rehab programs in parishes.

Many parishes however have not fully manned their GGPAA Ministry and its sub-ministries: Ugnayan ng Barangay at mga Simbahan (UBAS) and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV). May we urgently request our parish priests to kindly ensure that the following posts are filled up:

  • Coordinator for the Ministry of GGPAA,
  • Coordinator for sub-Ministry of UBAS, and
  • Coordinator for sub-Ministry of PPCRV

Further we request that preferably, these coordinators do not have leadership positions in other commissions or ministries in the parish, that may conflict in their effective dispatch of responsibilities.

The current administration’s war on drugs plus other community concerns such as unabated corruption in all levels of government, proposed shift to Federalism, scheduled Barangay and SK elections on May 2018, and threats to our community peace & order, are among many public issues that directly affect us and our communities. They too are concerns of the Church.

Our diocese responds to these through the Commission on Service to Human Promotion (COSHP), more specifically through its Good Governance, Public Affairs and Advocacy (GGPAA) Ministry. CoSHP mission is not just service but also human promotion, the restoration and promotion of human dignity of all. To effectively perform this role, we need to fill up our ministries with servant-leaders who are ka-akbay, ka-lakbay at ka-agapay ng komunidad.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our General Assembly.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Msgr. MELCHOR D. DAVID                                         Msgr. ALBERT A. VENUS
