DOP CIRCULAR NO. 2018-102

09 October 2018

TO:     ALL PARISH PRIESTS, PARISH ADMINISTRATORS, RECTORS, CHAPLAINS, GUEST PRIESTS, RELIGIOUS PRIESTS AND LAY FAITHFUL IN THE DIOCESE OF PARAÑAQUE

RE:     CLOSING CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR OF THE CLERGY AND CONSECRATED PERSONS

Reverend Monsignori and Fathers,

Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

As you well know, we celebrate the closing of each years’ theme on the Diocesan level, dubbed as the Diocesan Day.

This year, the Board on Clergy Concerns, with the approval of our beloved Bishop Jesse E. Mercado, has proposed that the closing of the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated persons be celebrated on the Vicariate Level, separate from the celebration of the opening of the Year of the Youth as the Diocesan Day.

The seeming separation of these events, the closing and opening of the years’ theme, is to equally emphasize what is supposed to be highlighted for the occasion; the Closing celebration highlighting the legacy of the year and the Opening celebration highlighting what is to look forward to.

The following are some suggestions as to the components of the program.

Date:               November 24, 2018 (eve of the Solemnity of Christ the King) or other     dates more convenient to the vicariate

Venue:            A parish selected by the Vicar Forane or priests of the Vicariate

Program:        The Vicariate is tasked to come up with the program with the following components present.

  • Mass
  • Talk/sharing – the impact of the Eucharist in the life of the priest
  • Response –  a lay sharer on the impact of the presence of the priest in

His/her life as a parishioner (family), and or a parish

servant.

  • Dinner

In order for everyone to arrange their schedule, may I alert you that there is a proposal to celebrate the opening of the Year of the Youth on the Saturday closest to the establishment of our Diocese on December 7, 2018. We shall announce the final details of this event through a succeeding circular as soon as possible.

Let us be of one heart and mind as we journey towards a renewed Local Church

Sincerely yours,
