RE:    5TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON THE CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING

Dear Monsignori, Fathers, sisters and brothers,

We are happy to invite you to our 5th Annual Conference on the Catholic Social Teaching on March 16 (Sat), 8.00AM to 12NN at the Villonco Hall, Diocesan Center for Evangelization. Our resource speaker Rev. Fr. Jerome R. Secillano, Executive Secretary of CBCP Permanent Committee on Public Affairs, will discuss the topic: “Social Justice and Politics in the Phils.” The Conference will commence promptly at 8.30AM.

This conference is our annual on-going formation program for lay leaders and members of the Commission on Service to Human Promotion (CoSHP).  Every year after its launch in the Year of the Poor in 2015, certain truths in the social doctrine of the Church which are considered urgent in the context of our national situation are chosen as conference topic. This year’s topic is purposely chosen in the light of our country’s current socio-political landscape and the forthcoming elections. With the proliferation of fake news and the reality of blind-loyalty even from among our ranks and within our families, we hope to find in our speaker’s talk some points of reflection, criteria for judgment and directives for action in addressing real issues on social justice in our midst.

With support from our parish priests, we expect the attendance of all diocesan, vicariate and parish Coordinators of CoSHP with their Ministry Coordinators, and of our program implementation partners: Commission on Youth with their Advisers, heads/ representatives of the Parish Direction-setting & Planning, Formation, Pastoral, and Finance Councils.

Through this Conference, we hope to instill renewed commitment to social justice among our servant leaders and pastoral volunteers. See you soon.
